PAINTBALL AS A TRAINING MODULE

The adaptation of paintball in training teamwork and teambuilding that focuses on character building is getting more and more popular.

Paintball is being used in 400 training centre as an activity for character building. The Campaign Paintball Park, London, England is one of the few centres that are well known for implimenting this approach. The trainees will learn about teamwork, self-confidence, and leadership skills in an environment that is fun and free from stress.

Examples of moral values and positive relationship between individuals that can be picked up are:

Paintball has gained popularity among the fans of extreme and high tech sports all around the world. Prestigous world class paintball competition are being held all year round in Europe and North America.

Besides its popularity as a challenging team activity in the new age, it is also widely used as a medium for training. Paintball is a more realistic and cost effective simulation compared to the "MILES" system where laser technology is used. It is also successfully gained trust from respected institutions and is recognized as a military and policy preparation training because of its high effectiveness. Therefore, it produces more efficient trainees. Among the institutions that approaches paintball as an augmentation training are:

* Joint Readiness Training Centre (JRTC), USA
* Special Weapon and Tactics School, Los Angeles, USA

Paintball is getting more and more attention among corporate bodies, government agency and universities for team training purposes, leisure, recreation and sports. Presently, the World Corporate Games and World Varsity Games tournament are organized annually in North America.


INTRODUCTION TO THE PENDORA MODULE


The module in paintball for teambuilding and teamwork training is known as PENDORA. The PENDORA module consists of a variety of training systems that have different styles but a common goal.

The specially designed PENDORA system is the product of hard work and important investment in development towards human dimension.

Important elements that will be implimented and concentrated on:

*Developing a positive mindset
*Communication and leadership
*Team spirit and motivation

The PENDORA system gives its participants an opportunity to discover their strengths and weaknesses, catalyzes self-potential, team spirit, increases level of commitment, dedication, self-disciplne and strengthens human relationship.

This module is divided by 3 section

SECTION A

Stage 1- Get into the right state of mind
It is to mould the right attitude and assumption about learning process that have to be gone through before the actual learning process.

SECTION B

Stage 2- Get the facts to suit yourself.
It introduces a few different way of learning and to identify what is the most likely and suitable method for everyone.
SECTION C

Stage 3- Explore the subject.

Stage 4- Memorize the key facts.

Stage 5- Show you know.

Stage 6- Reflect on how you learned.
This is the part where we will introduce the right way of learning that can make the learning process effective based on the ‘multiple intelligence’ method which was introduced by Howar Gardner. Overall, this module took minimally 8 hours and optimally 12 hours.
